TheGoodeNews (2022 Pre-season Fantasy Football Sleepers).

By : PrettyRichie

What’s GOODE guys (and Beautiful ladies)?!?!? it’s another opportunity for the GoodeNews to lay in on the Fantasy Football Community once again. Never take anything for granted in this life..If you’re reading this cutting – edge article, you are definitely Blessed and ahead of the Fantasy Game. In this Juncture, we’ll be looking at which players we at the GoodeNews classify as Sleepers. Sleepers are considered in the Fantasy Community to be players that are either forgotten due to past tense recency bias from an injury, an under – rated Rookie or even an Veteran player that has found a new NFL team to play for via NFL Trade. So, here we go, (No specific Order). Be mindful, that Here at TheGoodeNews, we do not delve heavily into numbers/stats from an analytical perspective. They do not tell the complete Tale of a players situation (s). Rather, our Community examines other factors such as, The talent surrounding the player, competition for targets within their NFL Offense and a Strong Hypothesis developed by evaluating game film on whether or not that player, can actually dominate the competition to produce what we all are looking for…FANTASY PRODUCTION!

** Michael Thomas, WR of the Saints. He was injured back in 2020 from an ankle sprain that caused him to miss a stretch of four games. Then, he just sustained setbacks with his recovery and could not fully heal to produce his previous consistent fantasy WR1 numbers that he was known for pre-injury. Mr. Thomas is now 29 years old, is 6’3 and weighs 213lbs. He does not possess blazing speed (4.54s forty – time) but, is definitely fast enough. What separates Mr. Thomas from the pack is his large hands (10.5inches), his High Level of Football I.Q., his superior Route running abilities/separation creation and his impressive leaping abilities to win at the high point of most passes thrown in his large wing span (33 – 3/8). Let’s reflect a moment, in 2018 he finished as the WR#6 in PPR scoring formats (Soon to be Hall of Famer, Drew Brees as his QB). In 2019,  he set an NFL record with 149 receptions to go with 1,725 yards and 9 TDs, Thomas finished 2020 with 40 catches for 438 yards in the regular season (7 games) due to injury, again, Drew Brees was the New Orleans Saints Shot Caller. With that being said, Let’s review the Now situation for Mr. Thomas. He has not played any real football in the NFL since November 8, 2020 when he could not shake his ankle injury for good. Now, his QB is Jameis Winston who has been defined as an inconsistent but, confident gun slinger as a Quarterback. The Saints drafted Chris Olave in the NFL Draft in 2022 who is fast enough and talented enough to effectively stretch the field opening targets underneath for Big – Bodied Thomas. Jameis will not repeat Brees, but he is definitely talented enough to put it on Michael early and often. Running Back Alvin Kamara is facing a potential NFL suspension for an off the field assault incident in Vegas. Kamara is another premium pass catcher as well. So, although Drew Brees is no longer under center for the Saints, Michael Thomas has the pedigree and talent to dominate once fully healthy. Due to recent bias, many Fantasy team owners in leagues will pass on Mr.Thomas for the shiny newer players lately remembered in 2021 and overlook Michael in the first two to three rounds of drafts. So, for those drafters deploying an Early Running Back Heavy method, Mr. Thomas can deliver WR1 numbers this season allowing at least two dominant RB1s being selected on their roster first. Or, a Fantasy owner can draft Michael as their third WR and own three possible WR1s to start each week (That’s a huge advantage in PPR formats).

**A.J. Dillion, RB of Green Bay Packers is up next. Mr. Dillion has always been overlooked since he entered the league at #62 in 2020 by the Packers new coaching Regime in Lafluer due to RB Starter, Aaron Jones’ role within the offense. Slowly but surely, Dillion has learned the Packers Playbook and has been transitioning quite well at the NFL level. He has shown enough flashes with his ground and pound style of play. Of film, one will acknowledge his superior pass protection skills as well, which will increase his playing time as well. Aaron Rodgers has grown to appreciate that as a passer. The Then = Aaron Jones has been a superior pass catcher and running weapon for the Pack on a consistent basis. Jones is 27 years old and has had his fair share of injuries in the NFL as well. Aaron Rodgers loves to throw the ball more often than not, even when on the goal line as he heavily relied on the chemistry developed and great hands of his talented Wide Receivers historically. The NOW = Devante Adams has been traded to Vegas, many say was due to the Aaron Rodgers shananigans over his new contract he demanded after the Front Offense decision to not selecting a Wide Receiver in the first round (missing on CeeDee Lamb or potentially Jerry Jeudy) pairing with D. Adams would have catapulted Green Bay to at least two Super Bowl appearances since that NFL Draft (2020). Marquez Valdez-Scantling (MVS) scooped up by the Chiefs this off season has depleted the Packers Wide out corp of most of its reliable talent. Allen Lazard, Randall Cobb (aging) ad Amari Rodgers(Rookie) are notably atop the Packers Depth Chart for Receivers. From watching how the Packers Coaching Staff calls the Offensive plays since Lafluer’s arrival to the Green Bay, it’s crystal clear a transition from passing the ball to running it is apparent. Dillion is an absolute load at 6’0 and weighing 247lbs with tree trunk – like thighs punishing second – level would be tacklers has been his calling. He also displays good enough catching abilities as well. While most Fantasy Owners will draft Aaron Jones at the back of round 2 or round 3, savvy Drafter will target Dillion in round 6 or 7 to obtain his fantasy services/stats from NFL weeks 8 all the way through Fantasy Playoffs (sooner if, Aaron Jones gets injured).

Last but, definitely not least (For this Article) = Antonio Gibson, RB of Washington Commanders!

Antonio Gibson is a well rounded Talent at the Running Back position. He has decent size at 6’02 and weighing 220lbs. He possess a primary Wide Receiver skill set from his collegiate career. He actually had to learn the Running Back Position a practically a Senior in college. He was proven enough to be selected by the then, Washing Redskins in the 2020 draft at #66. Many fantasy owners will remember his nagging toe and hip injuries that hindered him from playing up to his full potential or missing time all together. Many will have recent bias to his covid-19 positive status that kept him off the field at the end of the 2021 season as well. In addition to that, co-players at the position such as Adrian Peterson and J.D. Mckissic (Even Jarett Patterson) each have shared/split considerable touches and playing time while Gibson continued to develop as a Running Back, fend off injuries or illnesses during his early NFL Career. The Now Factor = Commanders have drafted Brian Robinson in the 2022 NFL Draft at #98 overall. It is a decent spot for any Running back to be given a considerable chance to establish a Role on the offense. What role that will be, is still unknown at this time as he has yet, to take a single snap in the NFL. With that being said, some Fantasy Drafters may devalue Gibson due to the previous described recent bias against him. As a result, Gibson may slide as late as the fourth or fifth rounds in fantasy drafts. This is a mistake due to Gibson’s complete skill set within this offense and new Shot Caller in Carson Wentz. Yes, many find Wentz to be an underwhelming Quarterback at this level. However, historically he has been know to target passing to his wide open Running backs in the flat for short completions in attempts to move the chains and sustain offensive drives. Be that as it may, I believe with a now healthy Antonio Gibson competing in one of the most explosive and wide open NFL Divisions to compete (NFC East) that will produce electrifying stats on offenses due to explosive offensive players, the Commanders will be forced to keep up in order to be competitive will ensure Gibson to produce low – end Fantasy RB1s with Strong upside and consistency. His reliable soft hands will provide Fantasy owners with a high enough floor in PPR formats to provide a distinct advantage over their competitors in being drafted later than his actual Average Draft Position(ADP). I personally will be targeting Gibson as my #2 Fantasy RB in many 2022 season fantasy drafts or even steal him as my #3 Fantasy RB will put me over the top at the RB position this season. So, Do Not Sleep on Gibson in 2022.

Today, the FantasyGoodeNews went over some sleepers to watch out for and to target them at the right time in each Fantasy Football Drafts. That time will vary during each draft especially if you know your league mates and how they value certain players and their respective situations around the NFL. In Fantasy Leagues, where the owners are unknown to each other, always pick the best available player while on the clock. However, if you see one of these discussed players in the next 14 to 18 picks, it is quite fine to pick one to assure rostering them to fortify your WR core with Michael Thomas or snatching your Flex RB with Dillion or Gibson to provide your team with a distinct advantage at that position. Many times, other owners will panic at your selection seeing you have 3 studs at the position and as a result, another stud at a different position should fall to you….Pay attention and capitalize off of every opportunity that comes your way in order to dominate your drafts.
