Heyyy Everyone, What’s Goode?! It’s about that time again to check in with the Fantasy Football Community. In this cutting edge article, We at FantasyGoodeSports will highlight some more NFL players that many Fantasy Football Owners devalue or simply outright overlook altogether. Every Fantasy Sports Brand has their own consensus ranking when it comes to all players in the league. There are many similarities within these overall rankings. Here, at FantasyGoodeSports we are not afraid to go against the grain of many Fantasy Enthusiasts. Most people know to target the House – Hold names in the game (especially the first five rounds of any fantasy draft). However, the defining selections after round eight and later, will more often than not, determine whether your team advances to the playoffs (Just from Drafting alone). Wise and calculated Waiver Wire selections will win one a Fantasy Championship altogether. So, at this time I will delve into a player at each respective skilled position to include, the Quarterback, Running Back, Wide Receiver and Tight End. Let’s Get it!!
**Deshaun Watson, QB for the Cleveland Browns…
Many Fantasy Owners especially in redraft leagues are very weary of Deshaun Watson and drafting him as a cornerstone for any Championship roster due to a potential looming NFL League suspension for off the field incidents unrelated to the sport. I have personally observed the Elite Player get passed over in the 4th, 5th and even 6th rounds of many Fantasy Football formats. That, in my professional opinion is a huge mistake for fantasy drafters to make. When many owners elect to pass on Watson, it allows savvy owners to nab him late as their QB2 on their team. Makes for outstanding trade bait for that now owner of an elite QB drafted earlier. Or, the new owner could merely play keep away from anyone advancing to the fantasy playoffs with a subpar QB or even a gimpy QB due to real life injury. Be mindful, this is Fantasy Football everyone, allowing your personal bias or overall Public Opinion of a player’s alleged activities off the field, preventing a drafter from taking an outstanding player should hold no value, in the event that player is still playing in the league. Let the details of each case work itself out in the real court of law (Due Process has its place in America) and allow the NFL to make their determination on any potential penalties handed down or a player can be exonerated altogether. The Browns football Franchise decision to pay Watson a very lucrative fully – guaranteed long term contract strongly suggests that they believe he’s worth the investment and in his Superior Talent to win them Championships. So, why on planet Earth wouldn’t any Fantasy owner be willing to target the man early in the 3rd or 4th rounds of every Fantasy Draft involved in. Deshaun Watson has not played football at the NFL level since the unethical assaults levied against him by almost two dozen massage therapists. Key things to consider surrounding Mr. Watson… Was he physically injured?, NO!…Is he going to prison to miss substantial time from the field?, NO!…Will he win Citizen of the Year Award?, NOPE! Has Mr. Watson severely aged or Declined to the point to Question his Talent?, NO!(not in just 18 months or so). So, with that being said, in addition to landing to a Franchise that clearly believes in him and what he brings to the table from a Talent/Leadership standpoint, they will rally around him and equip him with more weapons at the Wide Receiver position to allow him to unleash his skills. What it is NOW?!? He already falls into a great offensive line, elite running game to open passing lanes. Cleveland has Amari Cooper, David Njoku at Tight end (very athletic) and drafted David Bell at Receiver along with an under rated Deep – Threat in Donovan People-Jones to pass to thus far. Let’s not forget that Deshaun possesses great running abilities and uncanny instincts in his own right as well. His body of work in Houston was astounding and now he is in the best landing spot to perform at an Elite Level that he has ever been with The Browns. Let’s be watchful what other pieces Cleveland may attain to assist Mr. Watson in his Saga to Greatness on many levels. I personally will be targeting Deshaun in the 3rd or 4th round of any draft especially in Dynasty formats. Be sure to draft his handcuff in either (Jacoby Brisset or Baker Mayfield (he is still on roster at the moment) ! later in the draft to be prepared for any potential suspension in the 2022 NFL season.
Prediction for 2022 = 4,783 passing yard/38 passing TDs/400 rushing yard with 4 rushing TDs (if he plays entire season). QB #7 to #9 in fantasy.
**Tony Pollard, RB – Dallas Cowboys – Many readers will see Tony Pollard and link him to the Cowboys Starting Running Back (on paper) Ezekiel Elliott. Over the past two seasons in the NFL, I have observed the slowly but, surely decline in Zeke’s on the field performances after weeks 7 and weeks 8 and on. The NFL is a brutal sport especially, for the Running Back Position. Many Fantasy enthusiasts have even adopted the acronym of the NFL being known as, “Not For Long!” due to the fact that it only takes one major injury for a player’s career at that level to be OVER! In the last 5 to 6 games of the 2020 and 2021 NFL seasons I recall watching Zeke run the ball and asking myself, “Why is he running like he’s in quick sand?” His impressive explosion level has declined and he is two years older now. Sure, he is still a very serviceable Fantasy and Real Life player(especially during the first half of the NFL season) but, LONGEVITY is definitely a concern in 2022 and beyond at this point. Again, if the viewers can set aside their personal biases and stop holding on to the past, one can appreciate my standpoint on this subject. Zeke the Freak has been a monster since he has entered the NFL back in 2016 with the 4th overall selection to the Cowboys. He has finished as an Low end RB#1 for Fantasy purposes each season until his injury history was slowed by his achilles, knee and or Calf ailments in the 2020 and 2021 seasons. He has been inconsistent with his production from a fantasy standpoint as well. I can remember crying during weeks where he scored subpar numbers considering he being an second round fantasy selection (some instances first rounder). Then two weeks later, Zeke would go off and live up to his high fantasy draft capital. No need for me to deeply delve into actual numbers from the past. Here at the FantasyGoodeSports, we are Lovers of the Game and actually watch & study players, regularly forming our OWN EVALUATIONS/RANKINGS. With that being said, TONY POLLARD is younger (25), more explosive and possesses a more all purpose skill – set than that of Zeke at his juncture in their respective NFL careers. YES, I SAID IT! Tony Pollard is the better Dallas Cowboys Running Back in 2022 and beyond for Fantasy purposes. Zeke weighs about 10 more pounds than Pollard but, Tony is big enough to run effective enough in between the tackles as well. On film, Tony’s superior speed (4.38 forty yard dash) is apparent as he also runs WR routes and finds himself wide open to smoothly haul in passes from Dak Prescott. Although Tony was taken in the 4th round in 2019, he obviously was a STEAL at this point and merely needed the right opportunities to capitalize off of his God Given physical abilities. I boldly predict that Tony Pollard will outproduce Starter Zeke, the freak by at least two entire Fantasy draft rounds (24 ADP spots) in 2022.
2022 Bold Prediction for Pollard = 1,100 rushing yards/83 receptions for 400 yards and 8 total TDs. RB #17 to #21 in PPR scoring formats
**DK Metcalf, Wide Receiver of The Seattle Seahawks. This is a pure case of UNDENIABLE TALENT will more often than not, rise to the top. Many evaluators had substantial doubt when this man entered the NFL in 2019 to the Seahawks in round 2 regarding his lack of flexibility in comparison to other players at the position and his well documented Collegiate injury history. However, his blazing speed displayed in the 40 yard dash at that years’ combine at 4.33 seconds along with his colossal size had many in great disbelief. I myself, was in absolute awe at his performance. He caught almost every pass thrown his way during recorded workouts. Metcalf was an absolute phenom the moment he stepped on the field in Seattle as then, QB Russell Wilson and even back up Seattle QB, Geno Smith found him on long passes that he caught and took to the house with his electrifying speed. That was the Then… Everything changes, except for the Law of Change which states, “Everything Changes!” Dr. Martin Luther King (1969). At the time of the publication of this article, Russell Wilson has been traded to the Denver Broncos and will be making Magic at Mile High Stadium for the upcoming future. As a result, the Seahawks have Drew Lock and Geno Smith as the top signal callers at this point. The Seahawks failed to make any substantial move at the Quarterback position either. My hunch is that Drew Lock will get the initial nod to start under center to begin the 2022 season(unless Baker Mayfield gets traded to them). For fantasy purposes, wise Fantasy Owners of DK Metcalf should prefer Drew Lock to start. He is a Lite Version of Jameis Winston of the now, New Orleans Saints that has a very strong passing arm and mentality to sling the rock with above average confidence. In other words, he will provide his receivers with ample opportunities to produce competitive on the field stats (which in turn help contribute to good numbers for any WR2 fantasy football player). DK Metcalf is being slept on due to the departure of the great QB, Russell Wilson. Nevertheless, with two NFL seasons now under his belt in addition to his God Given physical abilities, I am here to tell you that DK Metcalf is QB and even Matchup proof. He may not be as consistent as us Fantasy Football owners desire but, he will provide at least 8 to 10 monster fantasy weeks scoring anywhere from 20 to 27 fantasy points catapulting that owner into Victory Lane. I boldly predict Metcalf to easily finish the 2022 season as a top 20 Wide Receiver from a fantasy standpoint barring serious injury.
2022 Bold Prediction for Metcalf = 89 reception for 1,238 yards and 8 to 11 touchdowns.
**Amon-Ra St. Brown, Wide Receiver of the Detroit Lions** This talented Receiver over performed as a rookie in the 2021 NFL Season by many. His late ADP at the time of this article (between WR #39 and #47) suggests many do not value Mr. St. Brown as they should. He may not be in an ideal NFL landing spot (in Detroit) as many other NFL Wide Receivers with more talented QBs and Offensive situations. However, The FantasyGoodeSports Brand has observed this player make great contested catches and remain a consistent Fantasy contributor to his Fantasy Owners in 2021 as either a late round flyer fantasy selection or Waiver Wire Gem altogether. Detroit did not address the QB situation in 2022 NFL Draft and will be rolling with Jared Goff as their signal caller. Goff is a serviceable Fantasy QB. He will not light the stat board up but, once he locks in on a talented target, he makes that player RELEVANT in large way from a Fantasy Football perspective. Jameson Williams was drafted by Detroit in 2022 NFL at selection #12 overall. As a rookie, he is projected to be talented enough to draw a Top Corner Back and some Safety assistance as well. If that occurs, Jared Goff will gravitate to what he does best, throw to the MOST OPEN TARGET on that play….Hint, Hint, Hint!! Goff does not like to take chances in throwing contested passes when a Receiver appears to be considerably covered. He will more often than not, pass the ball to an wide open player. Not to mention he already has a professional relationship with Amon-Ra and the duo has seen some considerable success in 2021. They will continue to build on that positive momentum moving forward especially as Jameson Williams becomes acclimated to the NFL level (that does not happen over night!) I will make a bold prediction here…Amon-Ra St. Brown will outproduce his Fantasy ADP by 8 to 10 overall Wide receiver spots barring major injury in 2022. Target him in Rounds 6 through 8 to assure his services via fantasy points.
2022 Bold Prediction for St. Brown = 78 receptions for 980 receiving yards with 7 to 10 touchdowns.
