Be mindful, it’s a flow that changes from draft to draft and season to season. Some may develop it with time, patience and taking heed to our Content. Let’s get it!!
Shockers that can win it all for you!
Things to consider when preparing for your Fantasy draft. Your designated draft position will come into play in determining who you should be targeting early. Do NOT put too much stock in this. Everyone is going to obtain relatively productive fantasy player (s)in the first 3 rounds of most drafts. Sure there’s definitely levels to almost everything in life and the same goes in fantasy football. Not everyone can be so lucky as to get a top 4 to 5 ranked player via draft generation on their roster, do not panic if you are digitally assigned picks 6 through 12 (or beyond). Know the landscape of the league. There are various scoring formats in Fantasy Football and it is imperative you familiarize your league’s Rules, like the back of your hand. You do not want to get caught with your pants down…such as being on the clock with 20 seconds left to select and being uncertain if your league is a Tight End Premium scoring league or if Quarterback passing touchdowns are worth 4 or 6 fantasy points. Be prepared with an air – tight plan pre – draft but, remain fluid and open to doing the unplanned in the event you must due to an unexpected occurrence. This will take a lot of mental discipline and patience. Be mindful of multiple owners within the league that KNOW each other personally and are probably aware of where their respective draft positions are in relation to the fantasy draft. They probably are aware of their favorite NFL team and how they value each player on the most popular/updated ADP tool. They will cleverly snipe players from each other because, they have a strong understanding of how they think/evaluate players. This can cause them to indirectly adversely affect your draft options when it is your turn to select a player. These will be ques when you will have to REACH on a targeted player due to the low probability they won’t be available to you on your proceeding Draft pick if you pass when you are on the clock with the opportunity to draft them NOW! ONLY reach for a player that is worth it because, you know they will be a key piece to putting your fantasy team in position to advance to the Fantasy Playoffs and not merely because, they are the best available player according the Consensus ADP tools out there or to block your best friend from obtaining them to mentally torment them. This will vary from draft to draft and season to season. You must be mindful when drafting in multiple leagues to not, have too many of the same players on each fantasy team (if possible). Be disciplined in using your own generated Tier Breaks in talent for each draft round to insure fluidity in options to target for upcoming rounds. You should have at least two options to target during each draft round already predetermined for upcoming rounds. One of the best ways to excel at this is to engage in SLOW – DRAFT fantasy leagues rather than engaging in 30 seconds to 120 seconds to make a selection drafts. Time is very precious and underrated during middle to late draft rounds after the well known Fantasy studs are already rostered. Another way to obtain more time when stumped on making a selection, is engaging in trading out of that spot for later picks moving forward. Again, be certain trading is permitted/encouraged in your respective leagues. Over the decades of fantasy experience if the FantasyGoodeSports community, many of our content creators will atest to moments of panicking during drafts and selecting the next best available player that was listed on the clock’s website or magazine; later to be disappointed half way through the NFL season as those selected players underperformed in comparison to the players that we should have taken according to our OWN research. Ultimately, Trust your own research and we encourage you to believe in our process to achieve greatness in this arena when drafting.
So, let’s get to some actual players many are overlooking at the publication of this article (to be updated as the Fantasy Environment changes—Content Creators are aware of our Brand)!!
The bottom line in Decades of experience in Fantasy Drafting, the top 3 to 5 rounds are easy in comparison to the mid to late rounds. It’s all about a drafters’ preference in the player they want. For the most part, one can not win their league with their first 3 to 5 selections alone. The only way, one can accomplish a greater advantage in the first 3 to 5 draft rounds is in trading their entire future draft picks and most of their bench players to obtain picks from various suitors in the league willing to trade their early picks for up to 3 of your later picks. Many Fantasy Football Leagues’ Commissioners will or at least should be viewing these types of trades to ensure no collusion is taking place (multiple team owners trading to concoct an unbelievably talented team to provide an advantage for that team to win it all). However, there are still a few players that can be had or REACHED on to obtain in the top 3 to five rounds. Below is a list of selected players one should strongly consider taking during the early rounds many drafters are willing to pass on early in favor of the consensus ADP lists formerly explained :
Round #1 = Justin Jefferson, WR of the Minnesota Vikings should not fall past pick #6 overall in PPR scoring formats. He could finish as the WR #1 or #2 in 2022. The new coaching philosophy now in Minnesota and the evolving strong connection with QB Kirk Cousins, is undeniably dominant that will generate lucrative results for the fantasy of Jefferson. Do not let him drop past #6 overall.
Projected Stats for Jefferson in 2022 = 140 targets/118 catches/1,672 reception yards/238 rushing yards/15 total Touchdowns.
Jamar Chase, WR of the Cincinnati Bengals is another player that possesses a similar galactic ceiling as Justin Jefferson. He is primed to take a significant step forward with an impressive rookie season behind him. He is paired with a more talented Shot caller than Kirk Cousins as well and it’d be no surprise is he finishes as the #1 player taken in round #1. Do not let him drop past selection #7 overall in PPR scoring formats respectively.
Projected Stats for Chase in 2022 = 147 targets/122 catches/1,638 reception yards/138 rushing yards/15 Touchdowns.
Creeping into Round #1 due to NFL team changes :
**Nick Chubb, RB of the Cleveland Browns has been quietly entering my Shocker Radar due to whispers of Kareem Hunt being traded (Philadelphia Eagles) and the strong looming 2022 NFL season long suspension of QB Deshaun Watson, by proxy is creating a Huge opportunity for Mr. Chubb. Cleveland will either have Jacoby Brissett or Baker Mayfield(probably be traded to N.Carolina or Seattle) under center. The Browns Defense is strong enough to always provide hope for Cleveland to be competitive in most games and will want to protect any lead they may possess by RUNNING THE ROCK to keep the clock ticking. Incomplete passes by the Browns late in most games, could cost the Browns tight games. Running between the tackles effectively will be a key ingredient for the Cleveland Browns to get the Dubb. I suggest if you do select one of the key Wide receivers with your initial selection, to target Nick Chubb regardless of scoring format. Do not let Mr. Chubb fall past #15 Overall this season despite him not having a history of catching a heap of passes throughout a season.
Projected stats for Nick Chubb in 2022 = 270 touches/1578 rushing yards/38 receptions for 228 yards/14 Touchdowns.
Tight End to REACH for :
Mark Andrews, Baltimore Raven will be this season’s Tight End #1. If you are drafting in a Tight End Premium scoring format League, It behooves you to REACH to obtain the premium pass catching services and stats of Mr. Andrews at the back end of round #2 or start of round #3. A good sign when to nab Andrews at this point of the year is when you see Travis Kelce of Kansas City Chiefs get taken, then you draft Andrews next. Or as a plan B, if Andrews gets taken first, then you take Kelce respectively. Either way, do not let Mark Andrews fall past #21 overall in standard or ppr scoring and #18 overall in Tight End Premium scoring formats. QB, Lamar Jackson’s superior talented scrambling ability and run-first mindset will be the key difference maker this season as it, will buy Mark Andrews with added time/opportunities to get open more often than Kelce. Mahomes is more of a Pocket Passer(primarily) and will run only when he has to.
**Stats for Andrews posted in previous TheGoodeNews(please refer to that for details).**
Player Worth targeting at current ADP :
QB, Josh Allen of Buffalo Bills is currently being drafted/ranked at #20 overall. You really do not have to REACH for Josh Allen to get him in 2022. But, I recommend that when he is on the board to draft, PULL THE TRIGGER to get him. DO NOT get cute and pick your second RB or second WR because, none of those players on the draft board at that time will be able to light a match to the fantasy production of JOSH ALLEN in 2022 (he has the arm talent of a Russell Wilson – like caliber statline and the rushing ability of lowend RB#2 –so you’re getting a two for one special performer). It’s as simple as that. Josh Allen will anchor any Fantasy Championship team in 2022 and the drop off from QB #1 and QB#2 (Justin Herbert of the Chargers) is considerable enough to select Allen early enough to obtain that dual – threat lofty ceiling he brings to the Fantasy Arena.
**Josh Allen Stats were already projected in previous TheGoodeNews article (s) so please refer to that. However, barring injury Mr. Allen will be a top #2 QB this season in good fashion albeit.**
In conclusion, as stated earlier the first 5 draft rounds in fantasy football are pretty easy. But, there is still some REACHING to be had to assure you obtain the premium services of a few select players that many enthusiast/drafters simply are not banging the door down for at this juncture in the NFL off season. Next article of TheGoodeNews newsletter, I will discuss players to REACH for after Rounds 4 through 8 that behooves you to obtain in order to catapult your roster into the top 3 starting lineup (s) on Sundays’ in your leagues.
